Reasons why your business needs a blog. Boost SEO and traffic, plus build trust with readers

So you've got a professional looking website up and running, engaging content is scheduled across your social accounts, and a sequence of automated emails is working its way out to subscribers.

Still feel there's more you can be doing to get your name out there though?

If your website doesn't currently have a blog you could be missing out on potential leads. Blogging isn't just for fashion hauls -it can be one of the best ways to promote your business for FREE.

Six reasons why your business needs a blog:

Establishes authority and builds trust

A blog full of helpful, insightful, relevant articles will position yourself and your business as experts in your field. Not only that, but this will build trust with your customers, proving to them you know what you're talking about.

A website with added value, such as educational or helpful content, is a site readers will find themselves returning to time and time again.

Pro tip:
Avoid being too sales-y in your posts - blog articles should offer your readers advice or teach them something.
Readers can be put off by pushy posts. Instead add a helpful call to action (CTA) at end of your article to direct readers to relevant services or products.

Increases reach and traffic

This useful, relevant content will naturally attract more readers. Writing articles that offer a solution to a frequently searched for problem is the easiest way to do this.

An interesting blog post will naturally engage an audience for longer, increasing the opportunity for conversion. You can then use this to direct readers to any related services or products.

Pro tip: Alongside your CTA make sure your posts have the opportunity to collect leads too. A simple way to do this is to include a newsletter sign-up option. This way you’ll build your subscriber list, and have the opportunity to reach them through targeted emails.

Shareable content

An informative, educational blog article is ready-made for sharing, in turn spreading your message further. You can also repurpose some of your blog posts into social content too - why not create an engaging infographic for Instagram using the points you raise in your article?

Keeps your website regularly updated

Simply put, having a bank of recently published articles is the easiest way to keep your site from looking stale.

Boosts SEO

Without getting too technical (perhaps I'll save that for another time!) a blog can allow you to add vital keywords or search terms to your site.

This will in turn boost your search engine rankings for those relevant terms, helping more people find your website.

It’s a good idea to brainstorm some search terms your customers might make, and write articles that directly address these queries, working these terms into your content.

Pro tip: Use your chosen keywords throughout your post, particularly focusing on your title, subheadings, and image descriptions. Don't forget to sprinkle the terms throughout your copy too, but be careful here. Adding too many is known as 'keyword stuffing', and can make your content feel 'spammy', putting readers off
